So, we’re a little late on this, but it needs blogging none the less! In October we had our FIRST ever Haus of Photography Workshop for Treva Tribit Photography. Haus of Photography is the brand we are using for anything and everything marketed toward fellow photographers in the biz, as well as a fun new place that just our brides and grooms will have access to…but that is in the works and coming later this year.
In the meantime, we were SO extremely excited to host our first workshop, and regardless of the COLD, our model (Jenna Touchberry, and up and coming make-up artist) was a real trooper letting our group photograph her while she stood there freezing…she’s so good you can’t even tell!! We had a nice turn-out, and afterwards we’ve seen the attendees really take their newly learned skills to the next level and start up their own businesses. This is a workshop that teaches you EVERYTHING you need to know to start your own successful photography business..not just a feel-good, self-help type of event. So often, we are asked the base level, need-to-know questions that are hard-learned when others in the industry aren’t as open to sharing the information that really got their business off the ground. We are an open book!! So, if you are interested in starting your own photography business, and you want to know it ALL, ask questions, and leave feeling like you are truly prepared….let us know, we’re going to hold another workshop this Spring! Thanks to all our fellow photogs who came out, we’re watching for the greatness you will surely bring to this fabulous industry!
Here are a few photos from the day! Enjoy!!

Haus of Photography Workshop – Treva Tribit Photography
Class is in Session
We weren’t at all sure we would do it again, and somehow the persuasive powers-that-be (namely Abigail) convinced us that “oh yes you are” and how can we possibly say no to that? So tonight, we begin teaching our third class (each class is four weeks long, or 8 hours)! Last night Bob looked over at me and said “um, is it really starting tomorrow?” Dearest one, it really is.
We usually show up tummies full of butterflies, wondering if its possible anybody thinks we’re worth listening to for two hours, for FOUR weeks? Somehow we get through the two hours dry-mouthed and cracking a few jokes (or are they laughing AT us…hmmmm…) and in the end we’re both too wired to sleep.
So, for all our jitters, if you still find some reason to want to learn more about your camera, and more about using it as a ministry, and about photography, (in spite of us), contact Abigail here. And if you want more intensive business knowledge, we will be putting on a workshop in Mckinney later this summer, so shooout ooout! (or email).
And just a reminder of the fabulously beautiful peeps that manage to put up with us…our clients rock!

Private Photography Workshop (with Bob)
Bob here. The photography workshop started at 4pm. An anniversary present from a loving wife to her adoring husband, which I had the privilege and honor of instructing. John and I sat down with our cameras, a white board, and John’s amazing willingness to learn and absorb knowledge. We went through everything on his Sony A300 and most importantly basic hard hitting photography fundamentals- exposure, depth of field, white balance, flash compensation, histograms, light metering, exposure programs, auto focus, and more. An hour and a half later and John survived the instruction admirably and was ready. Then the fun started. At 6pm, we met up with one our models. Josh (and a close friend of his). You probably will recognize him from our Senior Spokesmodel shoot. Josh, has a natural and precise interpretation of European modeling. He performed brilliantly for our workshop. After a quick refresher out at the location, John was ready to explore the next part of his photography, the elusive art of Treva’s composition and light scouting training.
The lighting conditions were prime.
Below are select frames from Treva’s camera, but after reviewing the frames on John’s camera, I can confidently tell you we did our job well. John left with the start of a great portfolio and a head full of tools to drive his camera. The transformation from [Auto] to [M]anual was a success.
I can not state enough that the lighting in these frames is “as-is”. With the exception of a reflector used in the first few frames, the rest is 100% natural light as it appeared at this McKinney location. Pure bliss. John was sharp with his mind, easy with his laughter, and personable through out. I had great time instructing John. Josh- as always a professional and a pleasure to work with. Treva was as usual- brilliant.
We look forward to John’s future work and we are honored that we could be a part of it!
