In Remembrance: 9/11

This was our “Kennedy” moment.  I can say that I don’t remember ever feeling the way that I did the day of 9/11/01.  Even though I personally did not know anyone at the twin towers, I mean, I’m as far away (almost) as you can get from where it all occurred but still…it was personal.  It was for all of us.  What strikes me, is that watching the families come together in NY this morning, it must feel strange that for them, this day eight years ago stands completely still.  And for all of us, life moved forward.  Though I could never fully understand, I believe that must be the hardest part about this loss, and anytime we lose a loved one.  I remember a friend saying, after losing a child, that she could not understand how people kept getting up, and getting breakfast, and going to work, and thinking of unimportant things…didn’t they know, her baby was gone?  Didn’t they feel the huge gaping hole missing in the world today?  In remembrance, we stop, and we feel for these families…

And to remember a tragedy, with a beautiful moment in a life…I thought this picture from our wedding last weekend was completely appropriate.  This groom is a police officer, and every day he puts his life on the line to keep us safe.  Every day.  We remember those lost, but honoring those alive who stand in harms way to keep us safe.  Thank you!
