Taking a cue from my good friend, Allison with “cakesbyAllison” I am just going to blog, even if I don’t have pictures ready to put up!
I debate with myself, constantly, about what is the best time to take pictures. There have been days that I have taken pictures with amazing color first thing in the morning, or right before the sun goes down, and I think “this is it!” Then, I find by using the harsh shadows and light of the mid day sun, I get dramatic pictures, with just a little bit of extra editing to make up for the contrasts. With my new filter, I can pull more from the colors that are there, in real life, and bump up my saturation. But my personal favorite manipulation of natural lighting currently, is using reflections off of windows to get rim light behind the subject, or really amazing color and or lighting on the subject. Its the best way to bring out the bright color and clarity in the eyes, while maintaining a situation where shadows are lessened.
Learning to manipulate natural light environments outside is truly an art, and its been my preference from the start. I think its taken lots of practice to figure out what is going to work, and what isn’t. But its so much fun!!
