Jessica and Aaron’s engagement shoot at Off The Grid, in Dallas! What an awesome place, and totally fit this couple perfectly!

Jessica and Aaron are getting married at the Cathedral de Guadalupe in Dallas, TX. After their ceremony, the reception will be held at the Hickory Street Annex in Downtown Dallas. We have had a wonderful time getting to know them both, and being able to participate in their special day on Saturday June 15th, 2011!

Wedding Favorites of 2010

Its hard to believe its time for another installments of “last” years favorites but here we are!! And here I am, spending hours trying to decide…so this year, I’m breaking it down. These are just plain favorites…but coming up, there will be bridal and engagement favorites, and the best of all….”wedding moment” favorites. You know, those super amazing captured moments at every wedding that somehow convey just how special that day was to everyone attending, to the couple, the parents….honestly, I love to “set up” shots…but nothing beats the genuine real captured shots. So many venues that we have been to and had the honor of shooting at this year in the Dallas area, and abroad. We have had a blast in 2010, and are even more excited about where 2011 will take us…believe me, there are some exciting images coming your way this year!

I met Laurie in choir in highschool in our small hometown (and her twin Julie too), and I can absolutely, honestly say that since highschool I couldn’t pass an Uncle Julio’s without thinking of them…just because we HAD to eat there after a choir contest one year, and they raved on and on and on…and yes, it was GOOD! Besides that, I always remember how kind they both were, just genuinely good people. So, it was no surprise that when we photographed their wedding, everything I remember about loving growing up in our small town flooded back. People ask you REAL questions, they smile and mean it, they hug you even if you are just the friend of the friend’s photographer…and that years later I am proud of who I was, and where I am, and where I grew up, and that knowing these people made up a big part of that. I guess it’s kind of rare to grow up with the same people, to have been in Brownies or kindergarten with the same people I walked across a graduating stage with before heading to college. I have so many really special memories that span most of my childhood, and I’m honored that some of those people are apart of my adult life now. Laurie is one of them. And she and Steven were probably THE most obviously happy couple I’ve photographed, you can’t look at images from their wedding day and not see smile after smile!! The ceremony was held at the First United Methodist Church in Stephenville officiated by her mother, Jane Woodward. The reception was held at a gorgeous NEW location just outside Stephenville, called Bella Vita. Definitely rivaled Dallas/FW reception locations! Her dress is a Maggie Sottero, and absolutely gorgeous (but you probably remember from her bridals here and here we put up a few weeks back in downtown Dallas). Laurie, Steven and all of you family – THANK YOU for your gracious welcome and for allowing us to be part of this beautiful, precious day in your lives!

Ever After: Brittney & Jonathan’s after-wedding shoot

Now and again, a bride and groom will have us follow them after the wedding to their hotel for some beautiful images! Its definitely extra special, and we were excited they were staying at the Dallas Crescent Hotel! Riding off in their vintage Phantom, we hit the streets of Dallas, and took their wedding photography to a whole different level. The Crescent Hotel has a beautiful exterior, and even though it was totally dark, the photography turned out dramatic and the extra “something” to their entire day!

Mckinney Wedding Photography:: Laurie’s Bridal (part 1)

We decided to shoot Laurie’s bridal in Dallas…I went to school with Laurie (high school) years ago and so I was SO excited after reconnecting on Facebook, that she not only wanted me to shoot her wedding but that we could meet up here in Dallas for her bridal! And then as we crossed the line into Dallas coming from Mckinney, the rain hit…like we went through a wall of rain, and suddenly, in downtown Dallas, nothing but a storm! My heart sunk! I called Laurie, and our meeting place (Dallas flower market) was wet, rainy, and she drove 3 hours from Stephenville, all dressed up and ready to go! So, we made a plan to see if the rain would stop (and I prayed, begged really), and sure enough…it did! And then the debate…should we go out with her dress, clouds, wet roads, maybe mud…should we? Should we do it the next day? Finally, we decided to just go for it, and WOW. Seriously…WOW!! The sky, even the wet roads, totally worked to our advantage and we ran all over the Arts District shooting…and the result is nothing short of FANTASTIC! Laurie, I’m SO incredibly honored to be shooting your wedding in just a couple weeks, excited to spend this amazing moment in your lives, and in your families lives, with you all. And we are blessed by your excitement, smile, and the anticipation and happiness you wear so outwardly! Enjoy part 1 of this beautiful bridal! (yes, she gave me full permission to post this PRIOR to the wedding, lol!)

There just aren’t words for how beautiful this ceremony at the Dallas Arboretum turned out, with the sun peeking through the trees as it set, and the gorgeous surroundings. Nothing could stop these two from laughing…and who would want to? They are amazing together, and I am pretty sure the shots we got of them walking up the aisle, finally announced as husband and wife, say it all!

Tiffany & D’Anders had a rough road planning their wedding, but once it finally all came together, BOY howdy, did it! The Magnolia Hotel in Dallas is absolutely stunning, and I seriously think I could have photographed forever inside The Magnolia, outside The Magnolia, and that shiny red horse…it definitely welcomes you as you enter. I’ve said it before, Dallas is the most amazing city to photograph in. The city has lighting to die for, the Dallas skyline is fabulous, and a photographer is totally in her element shooting here. At least, I am! This wedding inspired my last engagement shoot I photographed in Dallas of Andrea & Stephen.

So, this has been a long time coming, but to our dearest lovelies Tiffany & D’Anders, thank you, thank you for all your hospitality and how you welcomed us in…and to The Magnolia Hotel in Dallas, you make wedding photography SO easy, it was a pleasure to work with your wonderful staff and to photograph all the details you worked so hard to create.
