Private Photography Workshop (with Bob)

Bob here. The photography workshop started at 4pm. An anniversary present from a loving wife to her adoring husband, which I had the privilege and honor of instructing. John and I sat down with our cameras, a white board, and John’s amazing willingness to learn and absorb knowledge. We went through everything on his Sony A300 and most importantly basic hard hitting photography fundamentals- exposure, depth of field, white balance, flash compensation, histograms, light metering, exposure programs, auto focus, and more. An hour and a half later and John survived the instruction admirably and was ready. Then the fun started. At 6pm, we met up with one our models. Josh (and a close friend of his). You probably will recognize him from our Senior Spokesmodel shoot. Josh, has a natural and precise interpretation of European modeling. He performed brilliantly for our workshop. After a quick refresher out at the location, John was ready to explore the next part of his photography, the elusive art of Treva’s composition and light scouting training.

The lighting conditions were prime.

Below are select frames from Treva’s camera, but after reviewing the frames on John’s camera, I can confidently tell you we did our job well. John left with the start of a great portfolio and a head full of tools to drive his camera. The transformation from [Auto] to [M]anual was a success.

I can not state enough that the lighting in these frames is “as-is”. With the exception of a reflector used in the first few frames, the rest is 100% natural light as it appeared at this McKinney location. Pure bliss. John was sharp with his mind, easy with his laughter, and personable through out. I had great time instructing John. Josh- as always a professional and a pleasure to work with. Treva was as usual- brilliant.

We look forward to John’s future work and we are honored that we could be a part of it!
